Volunteering is a great way to get more directly involved in the exciting things that are happening at Lighthouse of Hope MK. We welcome individuals and groups who want to experience the joy of serving others while also immersing themselves in the beautiful and unique culture of North Macedonia.
We love hosting volunteer teams from various places that come and assist us with projects at The JOY Home. These teams have been a tremendous help in completing important work that have made a significant difference in the quality of care that we provide to the children.
Some examples of past projects are:
- Painting the interior of The JOY Home. The bright and cheerful colors they chose helped to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, which is important for the emotional well-being of the children.
- Yard work. This included planting flowers, pruning trees, and mowing the lawn, helping to create a beautiful outdoor space for the children to play and enjoy.
- Cleaning and organizing. Though it may sound simple, organization is such an essential part to maintaining a clean and safe environment for the children.
- Continuing education and expert training. We’ve also been fortunate to have volunteers with medical and therapeutic expertise. They have provided training to the therapists at The JOY Home, as well as medical and therapeutic advice. This has been extremely valuable in helping us to provide the highest quality of care to the children with special needs.
The work that our volunteer teams have done has been instrumental in the success of our organization. It is through their dedication, hard work, and generous hearts that we have been able to accomplish so much. We are deeply grateful for their service and look forward to welcoming future volunteer teams to The JOY Home.
Join us for a volunteer trip where you can participate in a wide range of projects such as helping clean out an aging field of chokeberry plants to make space for a new yard, building a swing set, fencing off a therapy dog enclosure, painting rooms in future group homes, breaking ground at our newest build site, or even helping to clean out and renovate one of our newly acquired spaces.
By volunteering, you will not only be able to contribute to a worthy cause, but you will also have the opportunity to experience the sights, sounds, and smells of an entirely different culture. Whether you are coming alone or as part of a group, our team is eager to help you make your volunteer experience with us the best it can be.
There are a million ways you can help, and we would love to have you take the first step in joining us. If you’re interested in hosting a trip to North Macedonia, please email us at [email protected]. We can't wait to hear from you and work together to make a difference in the lives of orphans!
